Let’s Eat Out All the Time – A Poem By Nick Mitchell

In Poetry on March 12, 2010 at 8:50 pm

Let’s eat out all the time

If you’d looked
At anyone
Else like that, they’d
Have taken you for a vile
Specimen

I guess I don’t
Know any
Better
Ha
Ha

It’s OK to laugh
When you’re
Not around,
Generally I mean

I’m going to
Change the
Way I look
At this
Shit

I’ve quit
Sleeping, foregone
Serenity,
Moved on from
Stoicism

Today, I
Became a
Fool
By
Trade

And there are a
Hundred wet-
Trousered drunks
Banging down our front door,
Asking
Am I hiring?
